Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois uncertain over future

Thibaut Courtois has indicated that he cannot guarantee he will still be a Chelsea player next season.

Belgium goalkeeper Courtois, 23, is currently preparing to face Portugal in a friendly next week.

Speaking to Belgian broadcaster RTBF, Courtois was asked if he would be prepared to leave the Blues at the end of a difficult season in which the defence of their Premier League title failed to get off the ground.

"I don't know," Courtois responded. "I still have a contract for three years so we'll see what Chelsea want too."

The former Atletico Madrid keeper had to undergo knee surgery early in the season and said it had been a turbulent campaign considering Chelsea had also sacked Jose Mourinho and brought in caretaker boss Guus Hiddink.

"Until now I'd won a trophy every season," he said. "I tried to come back as strongly as possible [from the injury].

"It's a pity that we're out of the FA Cup and the Champions League but I'm going to try to finish the season well and have a good European Championship with Belgium.

"Then we'll start a new season with a new manager [at Chelsea] with the hope of doing a lot better than this year."

The London Evening Standard this week reported that Chelsea value Courtois at £73 million and hope his price tag will put off potential suitors including Real Madrid.
