Rennes star Ousmane Dembele denies Bayern Munich meeting

Rennes teenager Ousmane Dembele has dismissed rumours that he has been in negotiations over a move to Bayern Munich.

Dembele, 18, scored his 10th goal in 19 league matches in a 5-2 win at Marseille last weekend and his form has seen him rewarded with a first call-up to the France under-21 squad.

Sources told ESPN FC that Bayern Munich are heading a queue of top clubs who want to buy Dembele, a player who only signed his first professional contract in October and made his Ligue 1 debut in November.

But the Rennes academy graduate has moved to quash reports that he has already agreed a deal with the German champions.

"I don't get worked up about what's being said in the papers," Dembele told Infosport in quotes reported by L'Equipe. "I'm at Rennes for three more years -- I'm not worried. I haven't signed anything at all [with Bayern]. I haven't had any meeting.

"They're a huge club -- among the four biggest teams in the world. But there's no discussion with Bayern Munich."

Dembele has already been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo at a similar age and France boss Didier Deschamps is keeping track of the player's progress.

In a separate interview, Dembele told RMC that he has been surprised by how quickly his career has taken off but insisted that he would have the final say on his future.

"It's going a bit too quickly but we're trying to manage that with Rennes," he said. "Honestly, they're protecting me well... yes, it's me who will decide my future with my family. But I'm still at Rennes."

Dembele was also quoted by L'Equipe as saying that he had not signed his first professional contract in order to "leave straight away."

"I feel very good [at Rennes]," he added. "For me, it's the ideal club at which to progress and to enjoy myself on the pitch."
