Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka has not ruled out a future move to the Premier League, saying it would be "difficult" to say no to Manchester City.
Xhaka, 23, has been one of Monchengladbach's key players in recent years, helping the club to sixth in the Bundesliga table this season.
The Switzerland international is under contract at the German side until 2019, with an option for a further year.
Xhaka reportedly has a €30 million release clause that is due to become active in the summer of 2017, and earlier this year Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl did not rule out an exit at the end of the season if a sufficient offer is made.
The midfielder, who is to return to the Gladbach team at Hamburg on Sunday for the first time in 2016 following a three-match ban, has indicated in the past that he would be open to a transfer if he is given reassurances over first-team football.
Speaking to Sport Bild on Wednesday, Xhaka added that it would be difficult, but not impossible, to tempt him away from the Borussia Park, although certainly not to China.
"I can only speak for myself, but at my age I would never go to China, for no money in the world," Xhaka said, referring to the recent big-money transfers involving players such as Ramires and Jackson Martinez.
"The sporting perspective and everything else would need to be right. Honestly, you want experience such a positive vibe, such a togetherness in football often. That counts too.
"And should I one day want to make the next step, it also has to be an improvement. But true, it's difficult to say no when Manchester City want you and you could play there. That much I have to admit. But I certainly not the only one."
In a kicker poll earlier this year, 82 percent of the Bundesliga players said they would move to Premier League or at least consider a transfer if they were offered a significantly better salary than in Bundesliga.
