Inter Milan negotiations over Eder transfer 'at a good stage'

Inter Milan are hopeful of completing a move for Sampdoria forward Eder before the end of the winter transfer window.

The Nerazzurri have made no secret of their interest in the Italy international, who has also received an offer from Leicester City. The sale of Fredy Guarin to Shanghai Shenhua means they may now be in a position to meet the Genovese club's asking price of €13 million for the forward.

Inter coach, Roberto Mancini, has reiterated his desire to have the 29-year-old in his squad for the second half of the season.

"I don't know how the situation is right now, but I think he could be very useful to us in the league," Mancini told RAI television when asked about Eder, following his side's 3-0 defeat to Juventus in the first-leg of their Coppa Italia semifinal tie on Wednesday.

Mancini's wish could be granted as early as before the Milan city derby this weekend, with Inter's vice-president Javier Zanetti confirming talks are moving in the right direction.

"We are negotiating and we're at a good stage," he told RAI. "Soon, there will be some news."
