Juventus would like to hold on to Colombia international Juan Cuadrado beyond the end of the season when his loan from Chelsea expires, according to the club's general director Giuseppe Marotta.
Cuadrado, 27, moved to Stamford Bridge from Fiorentina last February, signing a four-and-a-half year contract with a reported fee of €35 million. But the forward failed to settle into Jose Mourinho's team and he wound up being loaned to Juventus during the 2015 summer transfer window.
"He is on loan but for the squad and his tactical flexibility we really need him," Marotta told Rai Sport ahead of Juve's 3-0 Coppa Italia first-leg win against Inter Milan. "He plays in a different way compared to all our other midfielders.
"Cuadrado could help us a lot and we are happy about his performances. We will try to hold on to him for the next campaign."
Cuadrado also appeared to be open to the idea when asked after the match about the Bianconeri's chances of success this season after the match.
"We have not won anything yet, we need to continue the way we are going," he told RAI. "Juventus are the best club I have ever played for. Even when things were not going well, I was convinced we would lift ourselves up."
