Sunderland are keeping tabs on Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy as manager Sam Allardyce looks to bolster his resources at both ends of the pitch, Press Association Sport reports.
Debuchy, 30, has expressed a desire to leave the Emirates Stadium this month in order to keep alive his hopes of making it into the France Euro 2016 squad, and Aston Villa have already registered their interest.
Press Association Sport reports that Debuchy is one of a series of options for Allardyce, who wants a defender and attacking player to add to the captures of centre-half Jan Kirchhoff, frontman Dame N'Doye and third-choice keeper Steve Harper earlier this month.
Debuchy left St James' Park for Arsenal in a £12 million move in July 2014 but has made only seven appearances to date this season after missing much of the last campaign through injury.
Sunderland already have specialist right-backs in Billy Jones, DeAndre Yedlin and Adam Matthews, although Allardyce is keen to add to a defensive pool that has conceded 46 goals in 23 Premier League games to date this season.
Meanwhile, Sunderland are also apparently refusing to give up on striking target Andre Ayew, who was the subject of a rejected bid earlier this month.
Sources both on Wearside and in Swansea have insisted no second bid -- reportedly £10m plus Fabio Borini -- has been tabled but Press Association Sport reports that the pursuit is far from over.
