Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce targets three more January signings

Sam Allardyce has said he wants to add three new faces to his Sunderland squad before the transfer window closes.

Allardyce -- who has already signed defender Jan Kirchhoff and striker Dame N'Doye -- said he was targeting another defender, another forward and a third-choice goalkeeper.

He told a news conference: "We are obviously pushing for more outfield players if we can, and I think I need to find a third goalkeeper as well."

One of those new faces could be Swansea's Ghana international forward Andre Ayew, who sources told ESPN FC would be the subject of a second Sunderland offer.

But Allardyce said: "We're looking at several players, but it's been very difficult to acquire anyone in January, particularly when the club is in this position.

"They've got to be able to come in and join the fight and want to join the fight."
