Real Madrid star Gareth Bale welcome back at Tottenham - Pochettino

LONDON -- Mauricio Pochettino says he would not rule out re-signing Real Madrid star Gareth Bale, saying he is a "great player" with the right "profile" for Tottenham Hotspur.

Bale, 26, spent six seasons at Spurs before joining Real Madrid in a huge deal in summer 2013, with documents revealed by Football Leaks showing that the Spanish giants paid a world-record fee -- just under €101 million -- for the Wales international.

The documents also showed that Spurs inserted a clause into Bale's contract stipulating that they must be informed about, and have the option to match, any bid for the forward from another Premier League club, essentially giving Spurs first option to re-sign him.

Manchester United have been frequently linked with Bale since he moved to the Spanish capital but Pochettino would be happy to see him back at Spurs.

"If we have the option to sign him, why not? He's a great player and a player that can improve our squad," the Argentine told a news conference. "This is the kind of profile that we find."

Bale's agent Jonathan Barnett has demanded an investigation into the leaked documents, telling the Daily Telegraph: "There should be an inquiry and an independent investigation because it's outrageous. There also needs to be an apology from the Football Association to the clubs and the player.

"I think it's disgraceful that people can get hold of this sort of stuff. It shows complete disregard for both clubs and the player."
