Mohamed Elneny move to Arsenal complete, Arsene Wenger confirms

Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal have completed a deal for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny and that the Egyptian could be available for the game against Stoke on Sunday.

Wenger said after the 3-3 draw at Liverpool: "Elneny will of course join us. He has joined us. We'll see if he can qualify for Sunday."

The deal had been held up by paper work as Elneny needed to have both a work permit and visa approved. Sources told ESPN FC earlier on Wednesday that Elneny was in London to complete the £7 million transfer and that he would be officially presented on Thursday.

Elneny will provide cover for the injured Francis Coquelin in holding midfield for Arsenal, and is expected to be the club's only senior signing this January transfer window.

The draw at Anfield left Arsenal still top of the Premier League table but level on points with Leicester.

Elneny is Arsenal's first signing of the January transfer window.
