Former Chivas forward Marco Fabian said that he will be starting all over again when he joins Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on Jan. 1, but added that he is optimistic he can help the team turn around their poor start to the season.

''This is a new stage in my career and I am starting from zero," said the 26-year-old 2012 Olympic gold medal winner whose transfer from his boyhood Liga MX club is reported to be for three years. "They [Eintracht] know me, they know I have had a great career in Mexico but I am going to arrive and be just one more player who is trying to make an impact there.

"I will try to show what I can do for the team but with the responsibility and commitment to do things well and little by little become a leader."

The forward, who can play on either wing or as an attacking midfielder, said he consulted with Bayer Leverkusen striker and former Chivas teammate Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez about the move, as well as former Mexico international Pavel Pardo, who played in Germany.

He said he was honoured that Eintracht coach Armin Veh was willing to allow him to wear the No. 10 shirt.

"The '10' is what you dream of wearing as a kid, and they are giving it to me," Fabian told ESPN Digital upon his return to Guadalajara after signing his contract and passing his medical in Germany. "Wearing it means great responsibility but at the same time it is motivation, and there is no better motivation than starting from the top from the first day when I will have my first chance to give it my all on on the pitch."

The player has 27 caps for Mexico and last played for El Tri in the Copa America in June.

Eintracht Frankfurt are currently in 15th place in the Bundesliga and facing a battle against relegation in the second half of the season.

Frankfurt and Fabian are scheduled to play Hernandez's Bayer Leverkusen on April 16.
