Cristiano Ronaldo 'prefers Madrid to Paris' amid PSG transfer rumours

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has told Portuguese magazine Visao that he prefers the Spanish capital to Paris, but has not completely ruled out a move to Paris Saint-Germain.

Ronaldo, 30, has been linked with a move away from Madrid next summer, with former club Manchester United and French champions PSG reportedly interested in the Portugal captain.

Reports in the Spanish media have repeatedly suggested that Ronaldo is unhappy with current Madrid boss Rafa Benitez, and the forward told ESPN FC last week that he misses former Los Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti and would love to work with the Italian again.

Benitez said this week he is "relaxed" over his relationship with Ronaldo, but the Ballon d'Or holder has refused to rule out a move, even going so far as to say Madrid's fierce rivals Barcelona are not off limits.

Ronaldo made a point of seeking out PSG coach Laurent Blanc directly after full-time of Madrid's 1-0 Champions League win on Nov. 3, with transfer speculation rising after both men were coy over what was said.

But speaking about the future, AS quotes Ronaldo as telling Visao: "I prefer Madrid to Paris but maybe one day things will change. Maybe I'll get myself a girlfriend there and spend more time there.

"I have family working in France but I'm not thinking about living in Paris. It's a beautiful city and I've been there several times but it doesn't do it for me."

The forward also said he is not considering going into coaching when he retires, but did not rule out a managerial job in the future, saying: "I want my brand to keep growing because I know that my career will end in five or 10 years. After that there is another life."

Ronaldo has been criticised for his form this season despite scoring 21 goals in 21 games, but says that he is beyond the point of changing his style of play.

"If I am like this, and everything I have achieved in football is because I'm this way, nobody can ask me to change," he said. "If people ask me to improve then I accept that, but changing the way you are is very difficult.

"I am fascinated by being an example through my work. Not just this year, but every year. Ever since I started playing I have tried to represent my country in the best possible way, and at the personal level I always do my job to perfection."
