Cristiano Ronaldo's comments on future no problem for Rafa Benitez

Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez says he is "at ease" over Cristiano Ronaldo's future and laughed off reports over the forward's recent exchange with Laurent Blanc.

Ronaldo, 30, is under contract at Madrid until 2018 but has recently dropped several hints that he could be open to a departure.

He declined to rule out a move before his contract expires in an interview with Germany's kicker and then told FHM magazine: "I'm not shutting the door on any league or on any place."

Benitez, though, highlighted the fact Ronaldo's agent, Jorge Mendes, has said the Portugal star is likely to end his career at the Bernabeu and stressed that he had not seen any sign the player was seeking an exit.

"Cristiano is scoring for fun and looks happy to me," Benitez told a news conference reported on the club's official website. "He scored three goals in training today.

"I read that his agent said he's happy and that he'll finish his career here. If he's as happy and effective as he showed today then I'm at ease. I hope he's here for years to come and continues scoring hatfuls of goals."

Ronaldo has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and, after Madrid's 1-0 win over the French side in midweek, he sought out their coach, Blanc, and whispered something in his ear.

Blanc would only say that his comment was "very complimentary," but French newspaper Le Parisien has claimed Ronaldo said: "I would love to work with you."

Asked about the report on Saturday, Benitez called his press officer over and whispered in his ear, and then told the assembled journalists: "What did I say? Nobody knows. There's your answer."

Meanwhile, the injured Karim Benzema was left out of Real Madrid's squad for Sunday's match at Sevilla, two days after he was charged with conspiracy to blackmail a France teammate.

A French court charged Benzema on Thursday as part of an investigation into an attempt to blackmail Lyon midfielder Mathieu Valbuena over a sex tape.

Benzema has missed Madrid's last five matches due to a leg injury, and Benitez said: "He's in the final stages of his recovery. We've decided to leave him here so he can get back to 100 percent fitness.

"He's in good spirits, but he won't be travelling to Seville. On a personal level, the club sent out a statement that we all agree with and there's not much else to say about the matter. He returned the other day, trained, did his work for that day and that's all I'm going to say. Karim has our full support.

"He still needs a bit of time to get back to full fitness. We don't want to take any risks. Everyone who works with Karim knows what he's like and all his teammates and the club are fully behind him. The most sensible thing to do now is wait to see what the findings are."

Gareth Bale, meanwhile, has missed four matches with a left-leg injury, and Benitez said: "We still have to finalise the final squad for this game, but Gareth will be included.

"If he's made it into the squad that means there's a chance he'll play, but we still have to see for how long."

Benitez also said that Kiko Casilla would play in place of injured goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

"We're not taking any chances with [Navas]," he said. "We knew he had a muscle strain and that's still the case, so we don't want to risk it and make things worse. I have total faith in Kiko and we'd rather not take any chances."
