Schalke target QPR winger Junior Hoilett for January move - sources

Queens Park Rangers winger Junior Hoilett is a target for German side Schalke in the January transfer window, sources have told ESPN FC.

Hoilett, 25, is out of favour at Loftus Road and is in the final year of his contract at the Championship club.

QPR are willing to offload the forward as they look to trim their wage bill following their relegation from the Premier League.

The Canada international has started just 47 league matches since joining from Blackburn three years ago, and only featured in two Capital One Cup games this term.

Schalke are now weighing up a move for Hoilett in the New Year with the attacker highly-regarded in Germany after spells on loan at St Pauli and SC Paderborn while he waited to secure a work permit at Blackburn.

Hoilett is not currently in Chris Ramsey's plans at QPR and sources told ESPN FC that the player is keen to win a move to Schalke to kick-start his career again.
