Lazar Markovic joins Fenerbahce on loan from Liverpool

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic has joined Turkish club Fenerbahce on a season-long loan deal.

A statement on Fenerbahce's official website read: "Our club has completed the transfer talks with Serbian player Lazar Markovic on a one-year loan from Liverpool.

"We would like to welcome Lazar Markovic to Fenerbahce and wish him a great season full of success."

Markovic, 21, joined Liverpool from Benfica last summer but has been allowed to spend this coming campaign with the Super Lig side.

The Serbia international made 34 appearances for the Reds last season, and boss Brendan Rodgers said last week that he believed the player still had a future at Anfield.

He will join a Fenerbahce squad also featuring Robin van Persie, Nani, Raul Meireles, Diego Ribas, Bruno Alves and Simon Kjaer.

Vitor Pereira's men will compete in the Europa League this season after they beat Atromitos to book a place in the group stage.
