Manchester United may consider taking young Real Madrid striker Borja Mayoral as part of any deal to sell David De Gea to the Spanish giants, sources have told ESPN FC.
De Gea's future at United has been uncertain this summer with Real chasing the Spanish goalkeeper's signature.
United are refusing to let De Gea, who is entering the final year of his contract, leave for less than the record fee paid for a goalkeeper when Gianluigi Buffon joined Juventus from Parma for £32.6 million in 2001.
United also wanted Sergio Ramos in exchange for De Gea, but that fell through after the defender signed a new long-term deal at the Bernabeu.
Real are expected to come back in for De Gea before the close of the transfer window, but United are ready to request highly rated forward Mayoral in part-exchange for the deal to happen.
Mayoral is regarded as one of Real's most promising young players following his goal-scoring form for club and country.
The 18-year-old scored seven goals in seven appearances in last season's UEFA Youth League and was a regular in Zinedine Zidane's Castilla side.
Mayoral also finished as top scorer in this summer's European Under-19 Championship with three goals in five games as Spain won the tournament.
The teenager was called up to the first team last season for one game by coach Carlo Ancelotti, but has yet to make his full debut.
Mayoral, who has been likened to Real icon Raul, has been included in Real's preseason plans this summer, but he is likely to figure for Castilla this season.
