#INSERT type:image caption:Rudiger had also been a reported Chelsea target. END# Stuttgart defender Antonio Rudiger is expected to join Roma and will arrive in the city for a medical on Monday afternoon, according to reports. Rudiger, 22, had also interested Premier League champions Chelsea, but Serie A Roma appear to have won the race to sign him. The Germany international is recovering from a knee injury and faces at least another month on the sidelines, but his arrival will help fill the gap left by the departures of Alessio Romagnoli to AC Milan and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa to Lyon. He is likely to cost Roma an initial €12 million followed by a further payment next summer, according to Germany's Sky Sport. But with an eye on the European Championship next summer, Rudiger is keen to play regular first-team football. Paris Saint-Germain full-back Lucas Digne is another target for Roma coach Rudi Garcia, while La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma is also of interest.
