Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick has snubbed overtures from Paris Saint Germain to stay at Old Trafford, sources have told ESPN FC.
PSG boss Laurent Blanc is a big admirer of Carrick and was hoping to lure the classy midfielder to the Parc des Princes as he looked to strengthen the Ligue 1 champions for next season's assault on retaining their title and the Champions League.
PSG were hopeful of landing Carrick after Louis van Gaal strengthened United's midfield this summer with the additions of Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin.
The arrival of high-profile duo Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin has made competition for places fierce in United's engine room and it has been suggested Carrick could find himself pushed out of the starting XI as he was no longer an automatic pick.
However, Carrick remains a key member of Van Gaal's side with the Dutchman determined to keep the England international as United enjoyed their best run of form last season with Carrick in the side.
Carrick, who signed a new deal at Old Trafford in March, was told about embarking on a new challenge in France with PSG, but the player has rejected the interest as he no plans to leave United.
The 33-year-old joined United from Tottenham in 2006 and next year will see him reach the milestone of 10 years at Old Trafford.
