Didier Drogba open to Inter Milan despite Major League Soccer talks

Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba says an offer from Inter Milan could just tempt him to stay in Europe rather than continue his career in the United States.

Sources have told ESPN FC that Drogba, 37, has been offered a contract with Chicago Fire and that several other MLS sides are interested, but he is keeping his options open amid links with Inter.

"Inter are a great club and certainly if they were to contact me I would love to listen to what they have to offer, but at the moment my only negotiations are with an MLS club." Drogba told fcinter1908.it.

"As far as Inter are concerned, it could become a definite option if they were to be interested."

Inter are currently looking to reduce their squad before they can add to it, with coach Roberto Mancini aware he must submit a 25-man squad for his side's Serie A matches this season.

Even so, he may need to bring in extra competition for Mauro Icardi up front after Lukas Podolski's unsuccessful loan spell came to an end.

Drogba, who is a free agent after leaving Chelsea at the end of last season, said having to fight for his place at Inter "would not be a problem at all."

He added: "In every team you play there is more than one striker challenging for a place in the team."
