Major League Soccer is not a good option for Manchester United striker Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, said Chivas Guadalajara owner Jorge Vergara. "I can assure you that Javier Hernandez is not going to MLS, we are super clear on that. Before he goes to MLS, we would take him in for Mexico [Liga MX], that is for sure," Vergara told ESPN Mexico's Raza Deportiva show on Thursday. "We would break the piggy bank for him." Manchester United rebuffed an enquiry from West Ham United for Hernandez, sources told ESPN FC on Friday, and he has been linked to MLS clubs Orlando City and New York Red Bulls. Louis van Gaal said earlier this week that Hernandez would be given a chance to resurrect his Old Trafford career in the wake of Robin van Persie's departure to Fenerbahce. Hernandez was expected to leave United this summer after he was farmed out on loan at Real Madrid last summer. The forward made only two appearances under Van Gaal last season before the Dutch coach sanctioned a temporary switch to the Bernabeu after bringing in Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco. Hernandez is entering the final year of his contract at United, and the striker is set to link up with Van Gaal's side for preseason training once he recovers from a shoulder injury. Nor did Vergara have kind words for MLS regarding the recent move by Giovani dos Santos to LA Galaxy. "Of Giovani, what can I say? I think going to MLS is a way of sort of admitting defeat over what happened in Europe," Vergara said. "I think he would have been better off coming back to Mexico." Vergara defended the quality of Liga MX over MLS, which he said was a league for players headed toward retirement. "I don't think that playing Mexican football means admitting defeat, the level of play is far superior to that of the American league [MLS]. The proof of that is that all those who come into MLS are players who are one step away from retiring." Vergara also said he hoped the contract dispute between Mexican club Tigres and striker Alan Pulido is resolved. Pulido trained with his new Greek club, powerhouse Olympiakos, this past week after he was granted a provisional transfer by FIFA's player's status committee while the matter is resolved. "Bringing back Pulido would be excellent for Liga MX. I hope it happens one day."
