Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile heading to Sevilla

Borussia Dortmund striker Ciro Immobile is set to join Sevilla, both clubs have announced.

Dortmund announced on their official website that the Italy international, who has yet to pass a medical, will initially join on a season-long loan deal.

A statement on the Spanish club's official website read: "Ciro Immobile will play at Sevilla FC in the 2015-16 campaign after the agreement reached between the Nervion club [Sevilla] and Borussia Dortmund, where the Italian forward, who hails from Torre Annunziata, in the vicinity of Naples, has played the past season."

Sevilla added that Immobile would travel to Seville on Sunday and undergo a medical on Monday morning.

Immobile, 25, signed for Dortmund from Torino last summer but scored only three goals in 24 Bundesliga appearances under Jurgen Klopp.

Dortmund, now coached by Thomas Tuchel, had been looking to offload players as they seek to offset their summer spending after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Sevilla, meanwhile, have been in the market for a striker since Carlos Bacca agreed to join AC Milan.

"Now we have to find another Bacca, with a different name but with similar characteristics," coach Unai Emery told Corriere dello Sport last week.

The Europa League winners have had a busy summer in the market, having allowed Aleix Vidal to join Barcelona, while they have brought in Sergio Escudero, Steven N'Zonzi and Yevhen Konoplyanka.
