Aston Villa sign Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Lille

Aston Villa have signed Senegalese midfielder Idrissa Gueye from Lille, the Premier League club announced on Friday.

The 25-year-old agreed a four-year deal after the clubs reportedly reached a £9 million transfer fee.

Gueye, who has 24 caps for Senegal, comes aboard as Villa prepare for the impending loss of captain Fabian Delph, who is reportedly set to sign with Manchester City on Saturday.

Gueye is Tim Sherwood's second summer signing at Villa, following Micah Richards' move from Manchester City last month after a loan spell with Serie A side Fiorentina.

"I'm really pleased to have brought Idrissa on board," Sherwood said in a club statement.

"He's been one of the best young midfielders in France for the last few seasons and there were a lot of teams trying to sign him this summer.

"I believe we are signing a player who is hungry to succeed, is entering what should be his best years and is perfectly suited to the Premier League."

Earlier, the club confirmed the departure of defender Antonio Luna to Spanish club Eibar. Luna joined from Sevilla in a £2m deal in June 2013 and scored on his debut in a 3-1 Premier League win at Arsenal.

But the 24-year-old left-back made only 17 starts for Villa and was loaned to Italian club Hellas Verona last season before moving to Serie B club Spezia Calcio for the second half of the campaign.

Confirming Luna's departure on their official Twitter account, Villa said:

Eibar confirmed on their club website that Luna has signed a two-year deal with the Primera Division club.
