Fenerbahce in talks with Manchester United over Robin van Persie - sources

Manchester United are in negotiations with Fenerbahce over Robin van Persie, sources have told ESPN FC.

Senior officials from Fenerbahce are in talks with United in London about a deal for Van Persie, 31, as they look to make a second signing from Old Trafford this summer.

While Van Persie's agent, Kees Vos, denied at the weekend that his client has agreed personal terms with the Turkish club, they are also discussing a package with the Netherlands captain and his representatives.

Van Persie, who has one year left on his £240,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, is likely to sign a three-year deal in Istanbul should a transfer be agreed, although it is possible he will secure a move until 2019.

The former Arsenal captain, who cost United £24 million when he joined in 2012, is considering his future after losing his place as United's first-choice striker to Wayne Rooney in the closing months of last season.

He is concerned about the need to play first-team football in order to stay in Netherlands' plans for Euro 2016 but also said his decision will be influenced by family factors.

United manager Louis van Gaal has refused to guarantee that Van Persie, who only scored 10 goals last season, will be at Old Trafford again for the 2015-16 campaign.

Nani has already swapped United for Fenerbahce, completing a €6m move on Monday, and the winger has urged Van Persie to join him in Turkey.

United's summer rebuilding is continuing as they pursue a deal with Torino for Italy international right-back Matteo Darmian, which could mean Rafael da Silva is then allowed to leave Old Trafford.

United have also bid for Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos and Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, although both offers were rejected.
