QPR reject Leicester's £12m bid for striker Charlie Austin - sources

Leicester City have had a £12 million bid rejected by Queens Park Rangers for in-demand striker Charlie Austin, sources have told ESPN FC.

Austin, who is entering the final year of his contract at Loftus Road, scored 18 Premier League goals in his debut season in the top flight and was the second highest scoring Englishman behind Tottenham's Harry Kane despite QPR being relegated from the Premier League.

The likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Crystal Palace, West Ham and West Brom have all been credited with an interest in Austin, but Leicester are the first club to first to make a firm approach for the 25-year-old.

However, QPR have turned down the offer from the Foxes as they are holding out for a fee in the region of £15m.

The former non-league striker was rewarded for his fine form with his first call-up to the England squad for this summer's internationals against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia, but he failed to make his debut.
