Sergio Ramos only wants to sign for Manchester United - Ramon Calderon

Sergio Ramos has told Real Madrid officials he will only leave the club to join Manchester United, according to former Real president Ramon Calderon.

Ramos, 29, has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer, although his mother said this week he does not want to leave Real for Old Trafford.

However, Calderon, who was president of the Liga giants from 2006 to 2009, is quoted by the BBC as saying that he is interested in joining Louis van Gaal's team.

"I know Sergio has told the general manager to listen to offers they get from Manchester United," Calderon said. "He only wants to go to United."

The former Sevilla defender's contract expires in 2017 and talks about an extension are said to have broken down.

"Things are in a very bad situation," Calderon said. "As time has gone on, things have not only not improved, they have got worse.

"Now it is not a question of money. It is a lack of affection the player is feeling from Real Madrid."

United goalkeeper David De Gea, a target of Real, is due to return for preseason training, as well as Ramos for Real as they prepare for the 2015-16 season.

"They have contracts so they can't say they won't go [on their respective clubs' preseason tours], unless they have a good reason, like an injury," Calderon added.

"It is like a game of poker, with David De Gea in the middle."
