Barcelona's Martin Montoya near 2-year Inter Milan loan, agent says

Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya is set to join Inter Milan on a two-year loan, according to the La Masia graduate's agent.

Montoya, 24, was long seen as the likely replacement for Dani Alves on the right side of Barca's defence, however he has never really established himself as a first team player at the Camp Nou and was again a bit-part player throughout the 2014-15 season.

Alves extended his Barca contract by two years at least at the end of that campaign, while Barca also have €5.5 million summer 2014 signing Douglas to cover the right-back position.

Latest reports in Catalan media have Barca and Inter having agreed a two-year loan deal, with a loan fee of €1.5 million, and an €8 million option for the Serie A side to make the transfer permanent.

The former Spain underage star's agent Juan de Dios Carrasco told Calciomercato, in quotes picked up by AS, that he could not confirm a deal had yet been done, but his client was standing by to fly to Milan when it was completed.

"We are waiting on Barcelona to give a green light to the operation, but Montoya is 100 percent with Inter," De Dios Carrasco said. "It will be a two-year loan, but I cannot talk of numbers. We already have an agreement, but we have to wait. Montoya is ready to fly to Milan when it is over."
