Guangzhou Evergrande sign Paulinho from Tottenham Hotspur

Guangzhou Evergrande have announced the signing of Paulinho from Tottenham Hotspur for €14 million (£9.9m).

A statement on the Chinese club's official website said Brazil international Paulinho has agreed a four-year contract.

Paulinho, who played under Guangzhou boss Luiz Felipe Scolari for Brazil, had signed for Tottenham from Corinthians for £17m after the Confederations Cup, but he has been allowed to leave White Hart Lane after a disappointing second season.

ESPN Brasil had been informed last week that Watford and Fenerbahce had also been interested in Paulinho.

Paulinho, who has 32 caps for Brazil, will join compatriots Ricardo Goulart, Elkeson and Alan in Scolari's squad.

Guangzhou are currently third in the league standings, two points behind leaders Beijing Guoan, as they go in search of their fifth successive Super League title.
