Barcelona and Liverpool want to sign Monaco defender Aymen Abdennour, the player's agent has told Spanish newspaper AS.

Abdennour, 25, impressed with his performances in Monaco's run to the Champions League quarterfinals last season.

The Tunisia international signed a four-year contract last summer, arriving at the principality club from Toulouse following a loan spell in an estimated €15 million deal.

He then put pen to paper on a one-year extension at the Stade Louis II in March, tying him to Monaco until 2019.

Despite the recent sale of Geoffrey Kondogbia to Inter Milan, Monaco are set to offload more stars this summer in a bid to stave off financial fair play penalties.

And speaking to AS, Abdennour's agent Abdelkader Jilani said Barcelona, long-time admirers, had made a €30 million approach -- but added that they were not the only club keen to make a move.

"They are one of the interested parties, like Milan, Inter, Juventus and Liverpool," he said.

Abdennour, who has also been linked to Manchester United, last week said that while he was happy at Monaco he was open to the idea of joining a bigger club.

"I have a contract with Monaco and I'm undecided," he explained. "But I can say that I want to get better every day and I want to play for one of the biggest clubs spoken about soon. I'm ready."
