Borussia Dortmund won't sell Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Borussia Dortmund have said they have no intention of selling Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after a report claimed Arsenal were ready to bid €40 million for the forward.

German tabloid Bild reported on Wednesday that Arsenal were preparing the offer for the 26-year-old Gabon international, who joined Borussia from Ligue 1 side St Etienne for a reported fee of €13m in 2013.

However, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told kicker that BVB are "not interested in selling Aubameyang."

The Bundesliga side also look set to retain Ilkay Gundogan next season despite having announced in April that the Germany international wanted to leave.

Gundogan's uncle and agent, Ilhan, told Suddeutsche Zeitung that a contract extension is now "clearly an option" and Zorc confirmed in kicker: "We are in good talks at the moment."

He added that Gundogan had always behaved in a "very transparent and decent" manner towards BVB and said he "can't understand" why the midfielder, who has been described as "greedy" and "disloyal" in the media, had attracted so much negativity.

Dortmund therefore look set to hold onto the key players new coach Thomas Tuchel had sought to retain, with Zorc having said last month that Mats Hummels had decided to stay, while fellow central defender Neven Subotic has signed a new contract.

They have also spent a reported total of €17m so far this summer on midfielders Gonzalo Castro from Bayer Leverkusen and Julian Weigl from 1860 Munich as well as Switzerland goalkeeper Roman Burki from Freiburg, and have made an approach for Wolfsburg striker Bas Dost.

However, Borussia have said they plan to spend no more than they bring in this summer after missing out on next season's Champions League and, with a 30 players in their first-team squad at present, Zorc said: "There will be some departures in the coming weeks."

Ciro Immobile has been linked with a return to Italy, with hometown club Napoli reported to be interested, while Bild has linked long-serving goalkeeper Roman Weidenfeller with Tottenham, Valencia and Stuttgart.

Serbian midfielder Milos Jojic, meanwhile, could also move amid interest from Cologne.

Kicker said that Cologne's sporting director, Jorg Schmadtke, travelled to Prague to watch Jojic play his final game at the European Under-21 Championship on Tuesday, and the report suggested a deal could be finalised within days.

Meanwhile, Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin might be out for another four to six weeks with the abductor problems that have sidelined him since March.

Zorc said Sahin "won't be ready to start training with the team on Monday" but refused to comment further on when the Turkey international would be back, saying only: "His rehabilitation process is going according to plan."
