Bas Dost subject of Dortmund enquiry after Wolfsburg form

Borussia Dortmund have made an approach for striker Bas Dost, Wolfsburg's director of sport has confirmed, amid reports that Premier League club Newcastle are also interested.

Dost, 26, enjoyed an excellent 2014-15 Bundesliga season, scoring 16 goals in 21 league appearances.

His form has led to speculation he could seal a move away from Wolfsburg, with Manchester City linked in May.

Regarding interest from Dortmund, Klaus Allofs told Wolfsburger Nachrichten: "BVB have enquired about Bas Dost."

Bild also claims Dost is a target of Newcastle United, where former Wolfsburg manager Steve McClaren is now in charge.

The Netherlands international joined Wolfsburg from Heerenveen for a reported transfer fee of €7 million, after scoring 32 goals in 34 matches in Eredivisie.

Bild reports that the Wolves would be willing to let him go for €12 million.
