Man United target Nicolas Otamendi wants to quit Valencia - agent

Nicolas Otamendi is determined to leave Valencia this summer, the player's agent has revealed amid reports linking the defender with Manchester United.

Otamendi, 27, wants to play at a higher level, according to Eugenio Lopez, who also claims several top clubs are interested in his client.

The centre-back, who was in Argentina's 2010 World Cup squad, has informed Valencia president Amadeo Salvo of his desire to quit the club.

"Nicolas told Salvo to his face that he wanted to leave Valencia in the summer," Lopez told Spanish radio station Cadena SER. "Nicolas is happy at Valencia and with the fans but he's got an option to improve on a professional level.

"Nico is going to do everything [possible] to leave. There are a lot of conversations with clubs that want Otamendi. Nicolas loves everything at Valencia but, if the chance arose to leave, he'd do everything possible to make it happen.

"If there's an offer from a club we consider a top club, and it benefits his family, Nico wants to go. There are many discussions with several clubs who want to sign Otamendi."

Otamendi joined Valencia from Porto in 2014 for €12 million and now reportedly has a buyout clause of €50 million in his contract.

United are expected to try and sign another centre-back in the summer, as well as Otamendi. They received a blow, however, when Borussia Dortmund revealed that Mats Hummels, who was one of their targets, had informed them he wants to stay at the club.
