Bayern Munich keeper Pepe Reina set for Napoli return - reports

Pepe Reina is set to return to Napoli after spending a season as backup goalkeeper at Bayern Munich, according to reports in Germany and Italy.

Reina, 32, joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer after having spent the previous season on loan at Napoli, where he made 43 appearances.

The Spaniard had signed a three-year deal at the Allianz Arena but in March he had suggested he was reluctant to spend a further campaign as Manuel Neuer's deputy.

Reina had told kicker: "I have another two years on my contract, but time will tell. We will see whether there will be offers from other clubs. Of course I would prefer to play -- but right now my future is with Bayern Munich."

Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Reina is now set to return to Napoli on a three-year contract, while German football magazine kicker has said he has already said goodbye to his teammates ahead of the move.

Reina had played under former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez during his loan spell at Napoli, but the Spaniard is expected to leave the Italian club at the end of the season.

The Spain international has played only three Bundesliga games this season, and was sent off after just 13 minutes of his last appearance and handed a two-match suspension.
