Wolfsburg deny interest in Man City striker Edin Dzeko

Wolfsburg have rejected reports that Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko could return to the club.

Die Wolfe appear to be well stocked in attack for next season, having said they plan to keep both Bas Dost and Nicklas Bendtner as well as announcing the signing of Germany international Max Kruse from Borussia Monchengladbach.

However, Wolfsburg sporting executive Klaus Allofs told Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung that, having sealed qualification for next season's Champions League group stage, they could still make further additions, saying: "You have to see whether an opportunity will appear."

Even so, Allofs said that speculation that Dzeko could return to the club was "nonsense."

The Bosnia international had excelled at Wolfsburg between 2007 and 2011, helping the club to the Bundesliga title in 2008-09 and finishing the 2009-10 season as the German top flight's leading scorer.

The 29-year-old's agent, Irfan Radzipegic, said earlier this year that the striker would "prefer a big club" if he did decide to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Dzeko, who signed a new four-year contract in August, has made only 12 Premier League starts during an injury-hit season.

Wolfsburg have also been linked with 22-year-old attacker Kevin Volland, who could leave Hoffenheim this summer should they fail to qualify for Europa League.
