Manchester United winger Nani unsure about Sporting Lisbon stay

Manchester United's Nani admits his future is up in the air after suggesting he does not want to spend a further season on loan at Sporting Lisbon.

Nani re-joined his first club for a year as part of the deal that took Marcos Rojo to United in August.

But the Portugal international, who has scored 10 goals in 32 games in his second spell at Sporting, said he is looking for a different challenge next season.

The 28-year-old, who is under contract at Old Trafford until 2017, is waiting to hear if he will be part of United manager Louis van Gaal's plans, but has proved a hit with the Sporting supporters.

"The fans asked me to stay but we all know it's hard," he told A Bola. "I have a contract with Manchester United and my ambitions are different this time.

"I am very happy to have spent a year at Sporting. It was a great time, helping Sporting where I could and finish in the top three. The rest we'll see."

Nani, who joined in 2007, made his 228th and, so far, last United appearance as a substitute against Swansea in August in Van Gaal's first competitive game in charge, while he only played 11 league games in each of his last two full campaigns at the club.
