Edinson Cavani bids will be ignored by Paris Saint-Germain - club president

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al Khelaifi has insisted he "will not even look" at any offers made for striker Edinson Cavani this summer, and that Angel Di Maria would have joined his the French side were it not for financial fair play restrictions.

Cavani, 28, has been unhappy with being played in a wide position in coach Laurent Blanc's 4-3-3 formation, and a host of clubs -- including Manchester United, Juventus and Atletico Madrid -- have been closely linked with the prolific Uruguay international.

Cavani, who played centrally with Zlatan Ibrahimovic suspended against Lille on Saturday and scored twice, including a superb lob, has three years left on the deal he signed upon his Ligue 1 record €64 million move from Palermo in 2013.

French media have talked of United being ready to table a €50 million bid for Cavani, but Al Khelaifi, 41, insists he will dismiss any attempt to lure the forward away from the Parc des Princes.

"I won't even look at it," the Qatari told Le Parisien.

He also denied reports he was due to sit down with Cavani to discuss the striker's situation.

"I don't have a meeting with him," he said. "He's young, and the future of the club. He needs more confidence, but his last game proves his talent. He'll be Parisian next season."

While Cavani's former Napoli teammate, Ezequiel Lavezzi, is tipped to leave the Parc des Princes in the summer, PSG will seek to reinforce their squad.

They will, however, be limited by FFP regulations. Along with Manchester City, PSG were the hardest hit when UEFA handed down their first raft of punishments on clubs that had infringed its rules.

The French champions were limited to one major signing, David Luiz from Chelsea, and in addition to fines were forced to go into the Champions League with a reduced squad.

PSG were close to signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid last summer, only for the move to break down as the La Liga side did not want to fit in with PSG's preferred payment schedule, which would have allowed the Ligue 1 outfit to remain within FFP limits.

Di Maria, 27, eventually moved to Old Trafford for a British record £59.7 million, and Al Khelaifi acknowledged his club's ambitions had been restricted by the new rules.

"It handicapped us and has clearly slowed us down," he told L'Equipe. "Without these sanctions, you can imagine Di Maria would be at PSG this season."
