Real Madrid signing Danilo like Dani Alves, says Roberto Carlos

Former Real Madrid defender Roberto Carlos is confident that the club have made a great signing in Danilo.

The European champions announced this week they have acquired the Brazilian right-back from Porto for £23 million.

Danilo, who will join the Spanish giants this summer, will be tied to the Madrid outfit until June 2021.

"I believe Real Madrid have made a great acquisition because Danilo has a lot of quality," Carlos told Spanish radio station Cadena Cope. "Danilo is a good right-back.

"He is very similar to [Barcelona's Brazilian] Dani Alves. He is complete, he defends well and is also very good in attack."

Danilo, 23, has won two league titles since joining Porto from Brazilian side Santos in 2012.

The Brazil international has started in seven Champions League games for the Portuguese side, and could be part of the Porto team which plays Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals of the competition later this month.

"I think he will adapt very quickly [to Real] and I'm certain he will succeed," Carlos said.

Carlos, 41, won four La Liga titles and three Champions League trophies in his 11 years at the Bernabeu.

The former Brazil left-back is now managing Turkish league club Akhisar Belediyespor.
