S.League: Steve Kean unfazed by DPMM's four-game winless run

Brunei DPMM FC coach Steve Kean insists he is not overly concerned about his side's dismal run of four games without victory in the Great Eastern Yeo's S.League.

The Bruneian outfit, widely regarded as one of the title contenders this season, resumed their league campaign with a run of four straight draws in the last fortnight.

In their past three outings, against Courts Young Lions, Hougang United and Tampines Rovers, the Wasps managed to take a first half lead, only to squander it after the break and allow their opponents back into the game.

Nonetheless, Kean does not believe his side's failure to hold onto a lead is a major issue, as he looks forward to their Wednesday clash against Geylang International at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

"It's not a worry," he said. "It's always nice to score first and it's a learning process how to hold the lead and kill off the game.

"It's a bit disappointing because I thought we did enough in the first half (against Tampines) to get the three points.

"I'm not bitterly disappointed but it's a learning process for some of the young guys.

"If we come up against another opposition that plays the same way, hopefully we can hold on next time."

Their opponents, Geylang International are on a downward spiral since their impressive TNP League Cup semifinal journey, and have lost their last four outings in all competition, conceding nine goals and netting just once.

Although Geylang lost to DPMM 1-0 in their previous league encounter earlier this season, they did show what they were capable during the League Cup when they recorded a memorable 4-2 triumph over Kean's charges.

Despite his side struggling to find form at the moment, Eagles coach Jorg Steinebrunner is adamant it is not all doom and gloom in the Eagles' nest.

"It's always good to get a win, especially when you're on a run of results like ours," he said. "But I think based on the football we've played and the character we've shown, it's only a matter of time before things change for us."
