S.League: Leaders Albirex Niigata out to claim sixth straight win

Albirex Niigata (S) can continue their impressive run of form in the Great Eastern Yeo's S.League on Wednesday when they take on Home United at the Yishun Stadium.

Despite starting the season with back-to-back defeats, the White Swans currently find themselves top of the table after a dominant series of performances that have seen them win their next five outings.

In that time, they have not only scored 11 goals but have conceded none, and already, they are shaping up as genuine contenders for the title in 2015.

Nonetheless, after watching his charges claim a commanding first half advantage in last week's 2-0 triumph over Courts Young Lions before fading away after the break, Albirex boss Tatsuyuki Okuyama insists they can still get better.

"In our last game against Young Lions, we did a very good job in the first half," he told ESPN FC. "But in terms of the entire 90 minutes, I think we didn't do enough considering how well we had started.

"There was some hesitancy, especially in the second half, when we looked like we weren't sure whether to speed up the pace of the game or go on the attack.

"We must control the balance between defence and attack and I think in several areas, there is still room for much improvement."

Still, there was plenty for Okuyama to be pleased about in last week's win, including the two-goal performance from forward Rion Taki.

With Atsushi Kawata sidelined through injury, Taki emerged as Albirex's main man and, along with Shotaro Ihata and Kento Nagasaki, could prove quite a handful for an undermanned Home defence on Wednesday.

Already without inspirational skipper Noh Rahman, the Protectors will also be without the suspended Sirina Camara, meaning they face a tough test to get back to winning ways following a shock 1-0 loss to Harimau Muda.

Both sides met thrice in the S.League last season with the White Swans running out victors on two occasions, although Home did record a 4-2 triumph in their only home match against the Japanese side.
