S.League: Home ready for derby clash with Warriors

Home United will be looking to maintain their unbeaten start to the 2015 Great Eastern Yeo's S.League season when they take on rivals Warriors FC on Sunday evening.

After starting the campaign with disappointing 1-1 draws against Geylang International and Hougang United, the Protectors found form with a 2-0 triumph over Tampines Rovers, before following that up with a superb 2-2 draw against Brunei DPMM FC at the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium.

Following the international break, Philippe Aw's charges are back in action at the Yishun Stadium this weekend in the first Uniform Derby of the season.

And although Warriors have not had the best of starts to the season, Home goalkeeper Hyrulnizam Juma'at insists his side cannot afford to underestimate the challenge awaiting them.

"There's no such thing as an easy game and it's definitely going to be a tough match against Warriors FC," he told ESPN FC. "But all the players are fresh coming back from the international break, and we're all training hard to be ready for the next game. I think it's a great game for us to get the S.League campaign back underway."

Nonetheless, although the Protectors are yet to taste defeat in 2015, Hyrulnizam also admits that it is important they start winning matches on a more regular basis if they are to challenge for top honours come the end of the season.

"The good thing is that we haven't lost yet," he added. "But now it's important for us to start winning games. Sunday will also be our first game at Yishun Stadium and we have much to prove."

"We just want to keep our good run doing and we are really looking to get something out of this game."

Aiding Home's cause on Sunday will be the fact that the Warriors have not been in the best of form recently, coming off the back of a three-game losing streak following defeats to Maziya, Albirex Niigata (S) and Bengaluru.

The Protectors also recorded an emphatic 4-1 victory over Alex Weaver's side in their first meeting last term, although the Warriors had the last laugh as they beat Home 3-2 in October en route to claiming a ninth S.League title.
