Three S.League matches rescheduled as Singapore hunt SEA Games gold

Singapore's quest to win the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games football gold medal for the first time has seen three games in the Great Eastern-Yeo's S.League rescheduled ahead of the June showcase on home soil.

All the matches involve the Courts Young Lions (CYL) and include the much anticipated clash against glamour side Tampines Rovers next Tuesday. That will now take place on Aug. 13 instead.

The game between the CYL and Geylang International FC scheduled for Apr. 23 will now be played on Aug. 10. And the Home United versus CYL match planned for Apr. 30 has been brought forward by two days to Apr. 28.

The venues for all matches remain unchanged.

The reduced schedule will give coach Aide Iskandar more time with many of the CYL players expected to form the nucleus of his SEA Games squad.

The SEA Games will be held from Jun. 5 to Jun. 16 but the football competition will begin the previous week on May 29.

After a two week international break, the 2015 S.League season resumes on Friday with Geylang against Tampines at Singapore's Jalan Besar Stadium and Harimau Muda versus Albirex Niigata (S) in Malacca.
