Sevilla can become even greater, new boss Eduardo Berizzo says

Eduardo Berizzo vowed to maintain Sevilla's winning mentality as he was unveiled as the club's new coach on Tuesday.

Berizzo left Celta Vigo last month after three seasons in charge and has signed a two-year Sevilla contract following the departure of Jorge Sampaoli, who has taken over the Argentina team.

Berizzo told a news conference: "My aim is that of Sevilla, for it to continue to win. The challenge is to make sure that happens.

"I expect to have and build a strong group based on work, which is the only thing one can guarantee. I haven't been given a specific aim, but I know what this club wants. We need to keep growing."

The 47-year-old, who reportedly had offers from Premier League clubs, turned down a deal to remain at Celta in order to guide Sevilla.

"I didn't hesitate to accept this job because it's a big club, a winner and this is a huge challenge for me," he said.

"I hope I can repay the confidence and the enthusiasm the club and the fans have shown in me through my work and commitment."

He said his side would play in a similar attacking style to that favoured by Sampaoli, adding: "We have a good team and we can make it even greater."

Manchester City winger Nolito, who Berizzo coached at Celta for two seasons, is a target.

And he said: "I like Nolito very much because I know him well. He has great quality and is very good in attack."

Sevilla are also working to keep on-loan Inter Milan forward Stevan Jovetic, with sporting director Oscar Arias saying: "We are in negotiations with his agent to try and find a solution.

"It's not an easy negotiation because of the transfer cost and the player's wages."

Meanwhile, club president Jose Castro said he also hoped both Vitolo and Steven N'Zonzi would stay.

Vitolo is a reported target for Atletico Madrid, while N'Zonzi has been linked with Juventus. "We don't want Vitolo or N'Zonzi to leave," Castro said.
