Sevilla coach Jorge Sampaoli says he has not been asked about taking over as manager of Argentina.
Sources have told ESPN FC that current incumbent Edgardo Bauza is on the brink of losing his job after Argentina lost 2-0 in Bolivia in a 2018 World Cup 2018, leaving them fifth in the group.
Speculation in South America suggests Sampaoli is favourite to replace him but the Sevilla coach was unimpressed when asked about the claims on Saturday.
"It's something unjust for everybody, because there's a coach working and I haven't spoken to anybody," he said during a news conference ahead of his team's clash with Sporting Gijon.
"I am only focused on the game on Sunday against Sporting and it's something that they have to resolve in Argentina. I have had no contact related to this topic."
Sampaoli has also been linked with the Barcelona job, as Luis Enrique prepares to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.
However, in recent weeks the Asturian's assistant, Juan Carlos Unzue, has reportedly taken over as one of the main candidates for the position, along with Athletic Bilbao's Ernesto Valverde.
Sampaoli's Sevilla visit Camp Nou on Wednesday in La Liga.
