Sevilla agree two-year contract extension for Sergio Escudero

Sevilla have announced on Thursday that left-back Sergio Escudero has agreed a two-year extension to his current contract.

Escudero has been rewarded for some fine form over the past two seasons and will continue to play for the Andalusian club until June 2021.

The new deal will also see the 27-year-old's buyout clause increase although the La Liga side has not disclosed the new figure.

A Sevilla statement said: "Escudero's contract was set to end in 2019 but the new agreement extends it to two further years, with his buyout clause also increasing.

"The signing of the contract will take place next week."

The Spanish defender joined Sevilla in the summer of 2015 from Getafe and has started in 23 games in all competitions this season for the side coached by Jorge Sampaoli.

Escudero set up Pablo Sarabia in his team's opener in Wednesday's 2-1 home win over Leicester in the Champions League round-of-16 first leg.

Sevilla are third in La Liga and play away to Real Betis in Saturday's derby.
