Seattle Sounders' Jordan Morris injures hamstring as Gold Cup looms

Seattle Sounders forward Jordan Morris will miss the team's Saturday match against the Philadephia Union with a hamstring injury.

Morris suffered the injury in Wednesday's match against Orlando City and could have Gold Cup implications for the U.S. international.

Morris exited Wednesday's 2-1 win at CenturyLink Field in the 53th minute after pulling up, feeling his leg, and then sitting down on the pitch.

The 24-year-old missed all of last season with a torn ACL. He has scored four goals in 12 games this season for Seattle, who are riding a five-match unbeaten streak.

Morris has made two appearances for Gregg Berhalter's U.S. squad this year. The Americans open Gold Cup competition on June 18 against Guyana in St. Paul, Minnesota. Group play continues against Trinidad & Tobago on June 22 in Cleveland, and against Panama on June 26 in Kansas City, Kan.

Before that, the U.S. will play friendlies against Jamaica on June 5 in Washington, D.C., and against Venezuela on June 9 in Cincinnati.

Morris scored three goals at the 2017 Gold Cup tournament, including the winning goal in the final over Jamaica.
