Seattle Sounders without Marco Pappa pending arrest investigation

The Seattle Sounders will be without midfielder Marco Pappa while Major League Soccer investigates his recent arrest for speeding and driving under the influence.

Pappa, arrested early on Sunday, will be evaluated by the MLS' substance abuse doctors as per the league's policy, and will not be allowed to participate in games until the investigation is completed and he is cleared to play.

Garth Lagerwey, Sounders' general manager and president of soccer, said on the club's official website: "We are gathering information on this matter and have been in contact with the league office, the MLS Players Union, local law enforcement and Marco directly.

"We will continue to work in cooperation with all involved parties and will have no further comment until more information is available."
