Seattle Sounders sign forward Darwin Jones to homegrown contract

SEATTLE -- The Seattle Sounders have signed University of Washington forward Darwin Jones to a homegrown contract, the fifth in club history.

The Sounders announced the signing Friday. Jones was a two-time all-Pac-12 first-team selection in his two seasons playing for the Huskies. Jones, a native of Des Moines, Washington, played in 27 games for the Huskies in his two seasons and had 15 goals and nine assists. The 22-year-old is a former player in the Sounders youth academy.

Jones joins DeAndre Yedlin, Sean Okoli, Aaron Kovar and Victor Mansaray as homegrown signings by the Sounders. Yedlin is now playing for Tottenham in the Premier League.
