Elgin manager Barry Wilson will check on Dennis Wyness before finalising his plans for the visit of East Fife.
Wyness has been nursing an ankle injury and will undergo a fitness test ahead of Saturday's clash. However, the Borough Briggs men are definitely without the suspended Darryl McHardy and the injured Jamie Duff (knee) and Graham Bayne (groin).
Wilson said: "This will be a tough game to start our season as East Fife will be one of the favourites for the title and rightly so as they have recruited well over the summer.
"We will know after it how close we are to being able to compete with the top sides in the league."
Kevin Smith and Cyrus Moosavi miss out for East Fife.
Smith is suspended while Moosavi has a long-standing knee problem and remains some way off making a return to first-team action.
The Fifers went out of the Scottish League Cup last weekend to a last minute goal at Stranraer but player/manager Gary Naysmith insists he will have no problems lifting his team for this game.
``It was disappointing but the players know that they played well and will take confidence from that,`` said Naysmith.
``If we play to the same level then we can beat an Elgin side we have done our homework on. Winning away from home would be a terrific start to our league season."
