Montrose are without knee-injury victim Jonny Crawford against last season's League Two champions Peterhead at Links Park.
The Gable Endies will include former Queen's Park and Elgin City defender Paul Harkins as a trialist.
Manager George Shields said: "We have brought in new players and pre-season has gone well but this game will tell us where we are as a squad. Peterhead is a big test but we had a couple of good results against them last season and will look to do the same in this one."
The Blue Toon have Dean Cowie missing from their midfield due to suspension, however everyone else is available to manager Jim McInally.
New signings Reece Donaldson and Jamie Stevenson are also expected to be included in McInally's ranks.
McInally said: "It is a tough tie - especially away from home - but we are in good shape for it. We have played six games in pre-season and that is more than enough; we just want to get on with things now."
"We defeated a decent Aberdeen side 1-0 earlier this week in a game where we defended strongly and that has set us up nicely for a Montrose side that will come out and have a go at us."
