Craig pleased with preparations

St Mirren manager Tommy Craig believes his players are enjoying their football too much to start shipping confidence.

Craig has lost his first three games in charge and is still looking for a first goal to celebrate ahead of the visit of Dunfermline in the second round of the League Cup.

But he has been more than happy with the build-up play in two of the games with the defeat by Hamilton the exception.

Craig said: "It's the same demands, the same instructions. We are going in against a Dunfermline team who are managed by someone of real experience in Jim Jefferies.

"They will come here and make it difficult. But I will ask my team to go and replicate the performances we got against Motherwell and Dundee, and just put the finishing touches on to the play.

"It would be a concern if we weren't creating chances but we are creating a barrow load of chances.

"They are enjoying the football they are playing. It's quite easy to go day to day when that happens.

"They do it every day in training and they have carried it over into matches. We are fully aware we need to get a result but we are putting all the right stuff in."

Saints have a doubt over forward James Marwood (knee) for the game.

Manager Tommy Craig will also assess the fitness of striker Steven Thompson following his first appearance of the season.

Thompson came off the bench during Saturday's defeat by Dundee after missing the first two games of the campaign with a groin injury.

Dunfermline have added former Rangers and Coventry defender Stuart Urquhart to their squad ahead of the game but a lack of recent game time will see the 19-year-old sit this one out.

Also missing is Andy Stirling who has an ankle injury and Ryan Wallace who has a groin problem, with Alex Whittle an injury doubt.

Manager Jim Jefferies is welcoming the second favourites' role as he explained: "In most of our League One games we have to deal with expectations so it is nice not to have that to handle this time.

"We are a team that attacks and creates chances and that is what we will look to do in Paisley."
