Niko Kranjcar's first Rangers goal helped book the Ibrox side's place in the last 16 of the Betfred Cup after a 3-0 win over Stranraer.

Martyn Waghorn put Mark Warburton's team in control against the League One part-timers with two early goals before Croatian international Kranjcar opened his account eight minutes into the second period.

Gers now top Group F with four straight wins having notched up 10 goals and conceded none.

As well as Kranjcar's maiden strike, the Ibrox crowd also got their first...

The Ladbrokes Championship side opened the scoring in the 18th minute thanks to an Erik Cikos own goal but County levelled with 15 minutes left thanks to Brian Graham's penalty.

But a sudden-death penalty shoot-out went Rovers' way and ensure they top Group D with eight points from three matches.

Craig Curran shot over as County mounted some early pressure and they had a penalty claim rejected as Kyle Benedictus...

Steven Lawless struck a last-gasp winner as Partick Thistle fought back to beat Queen of the South 2-1 in an entertaining Betfred Cup clash at Firhill.

A Liam Lindsay own goal gave Queen's a deserved lead moments into the second half but they were pegged back by a Chris Erskine strike nine minutes from time.

Lawless then volleyed home with seconds remaining to give Thistle the win and move them level on points with their Championship visitors in Group E.

Queen of the South came out of the traps quickest...

Scottish Championship side United netted all of their spot-kicks as Draper and Tansey saw efforts saved by goalkeeper Cammy Bell.

The result was harsh on Caley Thistle, who had taken the lead in the first half through Scott Boden.

Stewart Murdoch levelled superbly at the start of the second half before penalties earned the visitors an extra point.

St Johnstone maintained pole position in their Betfred Cup group by seeing off the challenge of Championship side Falkirk.

Referee Bobby Madden awarded the Perth side three first-half penalties, with Liam Craig missing the first but Danny Swanson twice converting when he assumed responsibility from the spot.

A scrappy third goal after the interval rounded off a comfortable win, Steven MacLean initially credited but Joe Shaughnessy possibly getting the final touch.
