Rangers directors deny 'pay-off' claims as Dave King's takeover continures

Derek Llambias and Barry Leach remain Rangers' only boardroom representatives after chairman David Somers and director James Easdale quit on Monday.

Rangers' two remaining directors have denied clinging on to their boardroom roles while they demand a pay-off.

Dave King claims he is on the verge of ascending the Rangers throne, saying Ibrox chief executive Derek Llambias had admitted defeat.

But despite securing a "landslide" victory in his battle for power, Llambias and the club's other director Barry Leach are refusing to quit before Friday's general meeting.

King alleges the long-term associates of Newcastle owner and Gers investor Mike Ashley...

Rangers chairman David Somers resigns from board of directors

Somers' departure means just two board members remain at the Scottish club.

Rangers have announced non-executive chairman David Somers has resigned from the club's board of directors.

The 7 a.m. statement to the Stock Exchange followed speculation on Sunday night which suggested the 66-year-old -- a deeply unpopular figure with fans -- was ready to walk before he was pushed out of the club at a general meeting on Friday.

His departure leaves the Ibrox club with just two board members, chief executive Derek Llambias and finance director Barry Leach -- both of whom can expect...

Livingston saw their hopes of evading relegation severely dented after they were beaten 2-0 by Raith at the Energy Assets Arena.

Striker Ibra Sekajja had a great chance for the hosts early on after he pounced on Rory McKeown's weak clearance but he could only fire straight at goalkeeper David McGurn.

Rovers took the lead in the 15th minute when midfielder Ross Callachan powered a brilliant 25-yard strike into the bottom corner.

Lewis Vaughan made it two six minutes later when he dispatched Barrie McKay's...

Dumbarton consolidated their position in seventh place after they were held to a goalless draw at home to 10-man Queen of South.

Sons goalkeeper Danny Rogers was called into action early on to keep out Lewis Kidd's shot at the back post.

Midfielder Ian McShane was unlucky to see his header bounce off the inside of the post before Rogers tipped over Mark Miller's long-range strike.

Rogers kept up his impressive form after the break when he denied McShane from close range.

Struggling Alloa suffered their third successive league defeat after being edged out 1-0 by Hibernian in the Scottish Championship.

The visitors took the lead after 26 minutes when midfielder Scott Allan's brilliant free-kick found the bottom corner.

At the other end, goalkeeper Mark Oxley had to be alert to push away Philip Roberts' deflected strike.

Allan grazed the crossbar with a powerful 25-yard strike in the second half before substitute Martin Boyle forced Craig McDowall into a smart stop.
