Riyad Mahrez once quit St Mirren trial after 'abuse' of Scottish weather

The ESPN FC crew make their picks for Leicester City's potential title-clincher at Manchester United.

Leicester City playmaker Riyad Mahrez says he once quit a trial with St Mirren because the weather in Scotland felt like "abuse."

Before joining Leicester in 2014, the Algeria international began his career in the French amateur ranks, so he was excited to get a trial with the Scottish club.

But after initially excelling in friendlies, Mahrez told L'Equipe that things did not go as planned and he even had to sneak out of the club hotel.

"An agent, Jean Evina, told me he had trial for me...

Celtic put only two players on PFA Scotland team of the year

Leigh Griffiths is one of only two players from Celtic named to the Premiership team of the year.

Dundee and Aberdeen both have more players in the PFA Scotland team of the year than Celtic.

Only Kieran Tierney and Leigh Griffiths have made the Premiership XI from the defending champions.

Dundee goalkeeper Scott Bain joins player-of-the-year candidates Greg Stewart and Kane Hemmings among the Dens Park ranks.

Aberdeen provide the entire three-man midfield through Graeme Shinnie, Jonny Hayes and Kenny McLean plus defender Shay Logan.

The centre-backs come from Hearts (Alim Ozturk) and Ross County...

Both Liam Fontaine and Dylan McGeouch are back in the Hibernian squad after injury as they face Queen of the South in their final Scottish Championship game of the season.

Hibs need to leapfrog Falkirk - who are three goals ahead on goal difference - to save themselves early entry in the play-offs against Raith Rovers.

Midfielder John McGinn said of Falkirk, who play Morton: "It's all in their hands. If they manage to do the business and get three points then they will fully deserve second place. It's...

St Mirren are without Scott Agnew when they host Scottish Championship winners Rangers.

The midfielder is suffering from a groin injury and is unavailable as St Mirren look to bounce back from last week's defeat at Dumbarton.

Manager Alex Rae reckons Gers' recent dip in results will make securing a win even more difficult.

He explained: "Rangers will not want to end their season on a four-game run without a win. They have a Scottish Cup final coming up and they will want to be going into that with confidence...

Falkirk welcome Aaron Muirhead back into their ranks as they look to keep hold of second place by defeating Morton at the Falkirk Stadium.

Despite Muirhead's availability, the Bairns are still without long-term injury victims Peter Grant (knee) and Connor McGrandles (broken leg).

Falkirk are level on points with Hibernian but have a better goal difference.

Manager Peter Houston said: "We are in the driving seat and we cannot ask for any more than that. Morton are a very difficult side to play against...
