Rangers failed their second serious examination of the promotion race as Jason Cummings' double inspired Hibernian to a 3-1 win at Ibrox.

The Ibrox side have already been beaten at home by Hearts but lost further ground on the Scottish Championship leaders as they surrendered three first-half goals to Alan Stubbs' side.

Cummings put Hibs ahead after 26 minutes, making the most of Arnold Peralta's failure to deal with a meat-and-drink long ball.

Hibs full-back David Gray then climbed above Stevie Smith...

Osman Sow netted twice as Hearts scored five on home soil for the second successive match to see off Livingston.

The Jambos, who remain top of the Scottish Premiership after this 5-0 thumping, took just 14 minutes to get up and running with Soufian El Hassnaoui breaking the deadlock.

On the half hour mark it was two. Having watched Alim Ozturk rattle the post just a minute earlier Jamie Walker found a way past Darren Jamieson from a tight angle.

Sow then profited from a stray back pass to fire home...

An own goal by Chris Higgins seven minutes from time denied Queen of the South the chance to end a turbulent week on a high after a 1-1 draw at Falkirk.

The Doonhamers were this week rocked by the resignation of manager Jim McIntyre, who took over at Ross County.

Midfielder James Fowler was placed in charge for the game and saw Gavin Reilly - earlier denied by a fine save from Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald - put his side in front with 20 minutes left.

But their hopes of victory were dashed late...

A Jordan White hat-trick helped Livingston cruise to a 4-0 win over Alloa at Almondvale Stadium.

The summer capture from Stirling added to Callum Fordyce's opener as Livi made it two wins from two at home in the Scottish Championship.

Fordyce headed his side in front after 27 minutes following a deft cross by Jason Talbot before setting up White to double their advantage six minutes later.

Alloa's hopes of getting back into the match were dashed when White's shot found the bottom corner after 63 minutes.

Hearts were unable to break through a stubborn Dumbarton defence but returned to the summit of the Scottish Championship with a 0-0 draw.

The best chance of the game fell to Sam Nicholson in the dying moments, but the midfielder's header came crashing back off the crossbar to deny the visiting Jambos.

Danny Rodgers had been in top form earlier in the Dumbarton goal. He kept out Jason Holt and Osman Sow in quick succession in the first half before making another good save to deny Nicholson after the...
